Central Coast Family Turns Grief Into Entrepreneurial Determination

Los Osos, CA (PRWEB) January 6, 2006 -- When the Family Patriarch Bob Vedrin died suddenly at the age of 57 in April of 2005, both his wife and daughter-in-law pulled the family together and made a plan he would be proud of. “We looked for the perfect spot for us to buy as a family, giving us a new start and time with the kids and grandkids. Don’t be surprised if you find all of us behind the counter!” adds Bob’s widow Candii Vedrin.

The Vedrin family’s local business legacy dates back to 1981, when they owned Los Osos based Sharp TV. They now own and operate a gourmet coffee shop and bistro, Copa De Oro, in Baywood Park. Taking over in late November, it’s truly a family affair.

Now operated by Bob’s wife Candii and daughter-in-law Melissa, the family will continue serving the local crowd in the relaxed atmosphere they’ve come to expect. “We keep the doggie treats in the same place and the neighborhood dogs all know where! The only major change is that we’ve added free Charter WIFI internet” explains Melissa.
Close to the bay, Copa De Oro will continue to serve breakfast and lunch, at this Baywood Park favorite. When Melissa’s husband and Candii’s son Bill Vedrin can break away from little league, basketball or soccer coaching with the local kids, he too can be found pitching in. Even the grandkids have little jobs to contribute.

Prior to buying Copa De Oro, Melissa Vedrin was a realtor with Oceanside Realty and continues as PTA President for Baywood Elementary School. Candii Vedrin still teaches kindergarten for Sonshine Preschool, also in Los Osos.

Copa De Oro is open daily at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 2 p.m. every day but Monday when they remain open until 4 p.m.
