Ski Snowstar to Host Beach Party at The Slopes

Taylor Ridge, IL (PRWEB) February 4, 2006 -- Unusual winter or not, Snowstar Winter Sports Park is thumbing it’s nose at Mother Nature and hosting their first Snowbound Beach Party Weekend on February 11th and 12th. From getting pampered in the lodge with massage therapy to a Pork Chop BBQ next to the slopes to a Rail Jam, there really is something for everyone. Events are open to the public and the slopes will continue to operate for regular skiing, snowboarding, and tubing throughout the weekend.

According to Ed Meyer, General Manager, “As a tribute to all the fun we’ve had over the past 25 years at Snowstar we are packing just about every activity possible into this one weekend. We expect it to be one of our most popular weekends this winter. Our goal is to both encourage new people to come and try the sport while also reminding everyone that there’s still plenty of winter and snow left for a good time.”

On Saturday, February 11th, Snowstar will kick off the weekend by offering an “Extended Play Pass Sale” that would enable guests to use it for the rest of this season and next season at last year’s prices. At 10:00am most of the other activities both on and off the slopes will start. Including staff dressed in proper ski beach attire who will be handing out beads and leis. Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m., guests can go Cajun with the sounds of “We’re Late and Smell Like Beer.

Sunday’s events begin with a new X-Games style event called a Ram Jam and move into the afternoon with a “Balloon Break” event. Snow Tubing and the Coal Creek Kids programs will also be going on throughout the day.

Food and refreshments will be available out-of-doors on both days of the Party Weekend. Although the events and features are designed to add excitement and fun to the weekend, all are welcome to come and ski, snowboard, or tube whether they participate in the events or not.

There are six lifts serving 14 runs, including numerous terrain features, and a snow tubing park on 28 acres. The Resort is celebrating their 25th Anniversary season this winter. The ski season runs December through March, weather and skier traffic permitting. The resort is nestled in Coal Creek Valley above the Mississippi River, only ten minutes from the Quad Cities just off IL Rt 92 in Andalusia.

Saturday, February 11, 2006-Snowbound Beach Party

• 9:00 am: Extended Play Pass Sales begin
Purchase an Extended Play season long membership for next season, at this season's prices! Lock in your rate now before price increases next season. Start using the membership now! Renewals welcomed!
• 10:00 am – 7:00 pm: Snowstar staff will be hitting the slopes armed with prizes (t-shirts/lift tickets/free food). Dress for the beach (we will). Beads and Leis with any lift ticket purchase.
• 10:00am – 5:00pm: Get Pampered with Fitness First Plus. They will sooth those tired muscles by providing Massage Therapy in the Lodge for a nominal fee ($1 per minute).
• 10:00am – 9:00pm: Snow Tubing on the Stargazer. Reduce rates after 5pm!!!!!!
• 10am/12pm/2:30pm: Coal Creek Kids- 90 minute ski programs.
• Noon – 2:00 pm Pork Chop Grill on the Patio next to the fire-pit…..visit the Snowbar (you could end up with a free drink)
• 7:00 pm: Join us in the lounge for the live Cajun Sounds of “We’re Late and Smell Like Beer”. No cover charge……do not let name fool you……fun for entire family!
• 8:00 pm: Drawing and Announcement of Season Pass Winners from 2005/06 Benefits Package in the lounge

Sunday, February 12, 2006-Snowbound Beach Party

• 9:00 am – 7:00pm: Media Day. For accredited members of radio, TV, or print publications. Lift tickets distributed in Office. Prior reservations emailed or called in. Lunch-meal cards up to $15.
• 9:00 am ‘til bin of balloons is empty- Balloon Break-Burst balloons that offer a variety of prizes. (Sunday)
• 10am/12pm/2:30pm: Coal Creek Kids- 90 minute ski programs.
