Bel Esprit Steps out of the Virtual and into New York City to Debut Two Fashion Trade Shows

Philadelphia, PA (PRWeb) March 19, 2007 -- Plastic bags as cocktail dresses? Seat belts and car tires as accessories? And who is that designer from that tiny town in Austria? Or Peru? Or Thailand? Bel Esprit, the virtual fashion designer showroom, is inviting designers with a fresh point of view to participate in trade shows created just for them.

Two new trade shows are set to debut in New York City, September 15-18, 2007 at the Hilton Hotel and Towers: Mondo Bello (www.mondobelloshow.com), the trade show for ethical, ecological, cruelty-free and fair trade fashion, and Bel Esprit Presents (www.belespritpresents.com), the trade show for emerging designers.

As consumers become more conscious of how their purchasing power affects the world around them, ethical fashion is gaining importance - and chic! The collections invited to participate in Mondo Bello (www.mondobelloshow.com) will feature organic fabrics, ecological processes, recycled clothing and materials, and animal-friendly products, all making a wearable and contemporary fashion statement. Companies preserving traditional artisan techniques and supporting the development of sustainable local economies through fair trade, from the farm to the storefront, are also invited to participate. Corporate sponsorships will enable many of these designers to introduce their collections and their work on behalf of indigent populations to the U.S. audience.

Who told you this isn’t fashion? Bel Esprit is planning a runway show of ethical world couture and a visitor and press reception for the opening night of the shows.

To promote the principles of ethical fashion worldwide, Bel Esprit is working with The Ethical Fashion Show® in Paris, France to offer exhibit opportunities for designers at both shows. The Ethical Fashion Show® will present the ethical collections of French designers in New York, and exhibitors at the New York show are welcome to participate in the Paris venue in a Bel Esprit exhibit.

To encourage fashion designers to “think green,” Bel Esprit is creating a directory of vendors of ethical fabrics and fashion supplies to be distributed at the trade show to all participants and made available to the industry on the Bel Esprit website. Suppliers may have a company listing, or may submit an advertisement for inclusion in the directory by contacting Bel Esprit.

And for designers struggling to have their voice heard, Bel Esprit has created Bel Esprit Presents (www.belespritpresents.com). Young and talented designers from around the world are invited to present their collections to the U.S. audience. Bel Esprit understands the financial commitment necessary for a successful trade event, so to help designers afford the cost of exhibiting, booth share and group exhibit options are available. To open more doors to young designers, Bel Esprit is working with international trades shows to create exchange programs for designers interested in entering new markets worldwide through group exhibits with Bel Esprit.

All participants in Mondo Bello and Bel Esprit Presents will become members of the Bel Esprit showroom, where they exhibit their collections around the clock to buyers around the world. Bel Esprit provides a menu of marketing and sales services to assist designers in reaching their target market, and business support which helps designers build and maintain good relationships with retailers. This membership enables designers to exhibit an edited collection in a smaller space without buyers missing a design.

The September trade shows will mark the launch of the new eboutique in the Bel Esprit showroom. “Love at First Sight” offers designer items to retailers for immediate purchase and delivery. Designers sell first quality overstock, samples, limited editions or one-of-a-kind pieces.

Retailers fill in their inventory between buying trips and try new collections and items in their stores before committing to a formal order. The Bel Esprit Buyer Rewards Program awards retailers with 2% of the merchandise total of orders placed through Bel Esprit, paid from the sales commission charged. Retailers accumulate dollars in their account which they can use to order new collections or purchase items in the eboutique.

Because it is vital to a designer’s success that consumers discover their collection, the final day of the four day trade show will be an open trunk show, welcoming the public to discover eco-chic and new collections. Designers can introduce their line to consumers, and sell items at retail if they wish. Buyers are also welcome to attend the open event to purchase immediate items for the stores. This event will also launch the Bel Esprit consumer site, where designers present their collections to the public, list their retail partners, and offer special sales of merchandise at retail.

The Bel Esprit showroom and services are open to designers regardless of where they exhibit. Bel Esprit markets and sells collections on behalf of all members of the showroom, and promotes the members’ exhibits at any trade show or industry event worldwide, whether or not they participate in Bel Esprit sponsored events.
